What is the true meaning of life?

The Lord can minister to people of all ages. It took me until I was 30 years old to realize the happiest and most peaceful time of my life was when I became closer to the Lord. You still have situations to overcome, but Jesus gives you a joy that things of this world cannot.

Upon giving my heart to Jesus, I have grown in my faith, and I know God is Real, Jesus is the Living Son of God and the Holy Spirit is here on Earth to be our Comforter. Whether you have attended church your entire life or never attended church, it was laid on my heart to share with you who Jesus really is. In present day there remains descriptions of Jesus that are not truly accurate. Alexa, the Amazon voice service speaker, describes Jesus as Jewish preacher and religious leader who became the central figure of Christianity. What Alexa should be referencing is the Biblical depiction of Jesus Christ who is the Living Son of God (John 3:16).

John 3:16 New International Version (NIV)

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 King James Version (KJV)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to know God, but through him (John 14:6). I am in awe when I think about how Christ was hanging on the cross looking out to the crowd and asked God to forgive them for they know not what they do. It amazes me to know the compassion and love that Jesus has for every person. He does not want anyone to perish. He wishes for everyone to spend eternity in heaven.

WHICH ROAD DO I TAKE?

When traveling I am always at peace knowing that I am on the correct route to my destination. The LORD helps us in life by giving us His Word for our guide.

ROMANS 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect Will of God.

GOD gives us His Word to light our path .  Each day society is constantly influencing people. There are many outlets trying to tell us what defines beauty,  self worth and what type of lifestyle will make us happy.  It’s only when we begin to read, learn and Apply what God tells us that we have  peace and joy.  Remember we are not trying to do this on our own. Jesus Christ in our heart helps us.

Young ladies you are a beautiful creation of GOD.  He is the only One who can give us the true definition of what is lovely.

Pearl For Thought:

Lord help us to be wise to what we allow into our lives because of the direction it may take us.

Life Tips

A To Do List, Made Simple

When I started Pearls of Wisdom, the purpose was to help young ladies, as mentioned in Titus 2:4, with life’s greatest challenges. Time management is a challenge to most mature and young women, including myself.

Managing time is never an easy task. I worked for over 10 years in Mary Kay starting in my mid-20’s. One of the time management skills I learned during my time in sales was the 6 Most Important Things To Do List. Ivy Lee, an American publicity expert and a founder of modern public relations, created this To Do List for Charles Schwab who at that time was the President of Bethlehem Steel Corporation and was looking for a way to increase efficiency.  Ivy Lee told Schwab to give him 15 minutes with each of Schwab’s executives. Mr. Lee then advised it would not cost Mr. Schwab any money unless it worked. After only 3 months of using this idea to increase efficiency, Mr. Schwab sent Ivy Lee a check of $25,000 – not to mention this was over 100 years ago! I have used this list and it sounds simple, but it works.

These are some instructions included in creating Ivy Lee’s To Do List:

a.) At the end of each work day, write down the six most important things you need to accomplish tomorrow. (Do not write down more than six tasks).

b.) Prioritize those six items in order of their true importance.

c.) When you arrive tomorrow, concentrate only on the first task. Work until the first task is finished before moving on to the second task.

d.) Approach the rest of your list in the same fashion. At the end of the day, move any unfinished items to a new list of six tasks for the following day.

I’ve heard that a person can sleep better when they have a list. When I have a list I am ready for the next day. I do not stay awake going over things that need to be done. Years ago I was traveling with a fellow sales consultant and we were late boarding our plane. This was due to her forgetting to pack her panty hose and having to stop en route to the airport at a K-Mart to purchase some. This resulted in everyone on the plane watching us run – it was so embarrassing! (LOL) This would have been a great opportunity for her to have a list for traveling of the 6 Most Important Things To Do List.

Just like the To Do List, there is a way to better manage your time with Jesus. It starts with establishing a foundation for success. My foundation starts with my relationship with Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:15-17 talks about making the most of every opportunity day by day. We need take one day at a time.

Ephesians 5:15-17 KJV

15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Ephesians 5:15-17 NIV

15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

I hope you find this time management tip useful and helpful in managing your time 🙂 . It’s also beneficial to try today in planning your time with God.

Feeling Stressed? Take time to do what matters most

Throughout the years on days I started by either praying or praising the Lord I am always better equipped to handle daily challenges. My husband Jay teaches our family to call out the name of Jesus in times of need. Many years ago I was on my way to church with our family and Jay noticed a lady in our neighborhood trapped underneath her car. She had become accidentally pinned under her car on an elevated driveway. The life saving crew had been called already and Jay immediately started praying for her while waiting on the ambulance. The lady stated if she survived, she knew it was God’s doing. Praise the Lord, she lived! It truly was a miracle and answer to prayer. Prayer provides comfort and encouragement in times you need it most.

LagosHouseWife-Daily-Routine Sometimes we concern ourselves with daily routine and forget to relax and let Jesus carry the load. It’s important to remember to take time during the day to meditate on God’s Word and pray. As Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn, I also desire to learn more of what God’s Word has to offer.

Luke 10:38-42 King James Version (KJV)

38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Luke 10:38-42 New International Version (NIV)

At the Home of Martha and Mary

38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

TO GOD BE THE GLORY FOR ALL THINGS GOOD.

Hungry for wisdom?

How many times have we prepared a recipe and left an ingredient out or didn’t follow it correctly? Believe me, I have. During my early 20’s, I was working in my father’s real-estate office. It was my fellow co-worker’s birthday and I decided to bake a birthday cake for the occasion. While I was making the cake, I was in a hurry and accidentally doubled the oil! The cake ended up looking distorted like a giant wave cake and needless to say – it was terrible (LOL). Since then I’ve had some other flops while baking, but I’ve continued to learn from my mistakes and improve over the years.

Our life is the same; it’s not complete without Jesus Christ. We can have a fulfilling life with Him. Romans 10:9-10 tells us how we can ask Jesus into our heart and have everlasting life.  You will receive peace and joy that He promises us. People have good and bad times, but Jesus promises to never leave us – He is always right there. When I asked Jesus to come into my life, it was like a weight lifted from me – all sins were forgiven.

Romans 10:9-10 King James Version (KJV)

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:9-10 New International Version (NIV)

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

As mentioned before in Pearl’s Purpose –All of life’s answers are in the Bible.  You can ask Jesus to come into your heart & forgive your sins – He will!

If you are not familiar with the Bible, the book of John (in the New Testament) is a good place to start. The books of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John also serve as a good starting point. These books provide the details on life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I would love to hear from anyone just getting started or those of you who would like to share your favorite Bible Verse. God Bless You!

You are not alone

Whether single or married, we can experience loneliness. We are not alone. The Bible says in Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There is a lot of social media and media in general to keep you feeling connected in today’s society, but this doesn’t compare to the connectedness and relationship the Bible shows you can have with Jesus.  I want to encourage you to open the Bible and witness how the scripture will speak to you in times of loneliness. In reading God’s word, you will be able to see how God wants to communicate with you.

God doesn’t change through time, he is waiting on you and me to come sup with Him. Revelation 3:20

20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

I want to encourage you to open up your heart and listen because God will often place someone on your heart.

One morning I was preparing breakfast and a person came to mind. This person had prepared our wedding video .I told my husband Jay that we should pray for him. The next morning when I came to work he called for job reference. God laid him on my heart for a reason and I was amazed, however, I shouldn’t have been surprised – God knows everyone’s needs. In this moment it occurred to me that we are not alone.

The Pearl’s Purpose

Today is a wonderful day of the Lord. I am anxious to share the wisdom and knowledge found in the Bible. Also, I would like to challenge you to share your gifts that God has given you. Ladies need to realize how important you are in the Body of Christ. Every answer to our daily life can be found in God’s word. I have been amazed how scripture helps to bring joy, peace and love (John 16:33).

Some women have talents of cooking, sewing, gardening, and technology among other gifts. God tells us in His word to share these gifts, especially with young women, so that they will be successful in their Christian walk. For example, last year I heard a young lady say she would like to learn how to sew and be able to hem a pair of pants. I personally don’t sew a lot, but my mother did teach me the basic stitch for hemming. This would be a great opportunity for a mature woman to share her gift of sewing with this younger woman (Titus 2:3-5).
